From the quiet corners of Kroonstad to the restless beats blasting in my gym sessions, Yung Prophet is a name that refuses to be ignored. Born Lefa Mkhwanazi in Viljoenskroon and now finishing his matric in Kroonstad, this young emcee has proven that hunger, heart, and hustle still make a potent recipe in hip-hop.

We may be distant cousins by blood, but by spirit, I’ve always held him close. Maybe it’s because I see a version of myself in his fire, or maybe it’s because he’s just that undeniable. Either way, watching his journey unfold has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

In February 2025, he dropped “Life of Prophet”, a mixtape I had the honor of helping shape as creative director. From curating the visual identity to directing the cover shoot, I poured my vision into his story. And trust me, this tape isn’t just something I helped create — it became part of my daily ritual. It bangs in my headphones during every gym session, echoing that same spirit of determination we both carry.

But Yung Prophet didn’t slow down. Three months later, he dropped another project — “Road 2 Riche$” — and this time, it caught me by surprise. No heads-up, no build-up, just straight smoke. Eight new tracks, each one filled with grit, growth, and hunger, showing a young artist who’s not just working — he’s evolving. He didn’t stop there either; visualisers followed, giving the music more life and more reach.

And just when I thought he might take a breather, he went melodic on us. The single “I’m Not Ready” dropped, a softer, more emotional track where he opens up about a girl — a side of him that’s vulnerable, honest, and real. It made me wonder how he’s balancing school, studio, and content so consistently. It’s not just impressive — it’s prophetic.

With “I’m Not Ready” came yet another announcement: a new mixtape is on the way — titled “No One But Me”. And honestly? That name says it all.

Because this journey? This hunger? This momentum? It’s driven by no one but him. Yes, he’s got support. Yes, he’s got people in his corner — myself included. But it’s his own engine, his own work ethic, and his own purpose that’s pushing him forward.

We may be witnessing a superstar in the making. Not because of a viral moment or a lucky break — but because of consistency, craft, and clarity of vision.

So, if you haven’t tuned in yet, do yourself a favor — go listen to Life of Prophet, Road 2 Riche$, and his latest single. And keep an ear out for No One But Me.

Because I’ve seen what’s coming.

And it’s only the beginning.
